Fitbit Sense Review

The fitness features of the Fitbit Sense will meet the needs of runners, swimmers and other sports adepts: an in-built GPS that records your pace and distance, and maps your workout, music storage, 50 meters water resistance, and cardio tracking such as 24/7 heart rate monitoring, heart rate zone categorization (eg. fat burning, cardio, peak) and low/high heart rate notifications. It has loads of sports modes on offer: running, walking, treadmill, weights, spinning, boot camp, yoga, elliptical, etc. The Fitbit Sense also impresses, with advanced in-built “health” features such as an oxygen saturation level monitor, electrocardiogram, skin temperature sensors and an electrodermal activity scanner.

Fitbit Sense may well be the best sleep tracker watch on the market, having features that detect breathing rate, sleep stages, snoring and ambient noise. You can also program a somewhat dynamic alarm which will set off during a lighter stage of sleep within a certain timeframe. Some people swear by it as it makes them feel more rested throughout the day. Fitbit has a partnership with Calm (a renowned relaxation and meditation app) and your purchase often qualifies you for temporary free access to some of their material.

In addition to health and fitness features, the Fitbit Sense has a range of smart functions designed to compete with Apple watches (and in my opinion, it even looks like a Series 3 Apple Watch). It has hands-free calls, no contact payment and a wide range of apps on offer.

What We Like

Compatible with both Android and iOS, music storage on watch, water-resistant to 50 meters, calls from watch, has all the health and fitness functions needed to track activities: in-built GPS, heart rate monitor, step count, calorie tracker, active minutes and zones, recovery score, etc.

Other Considerations

Whilst the Fitbit Sense is the most expensive Fitbit on the market currently, it remains cheaper than an Apple watch and has the benefit of being compatible with Android. Some models of Garmin watches have a much better battery life.

Fitbit Sense Battery Life

The Fitbit Sense battery life and fast charging features are the same as those of the Fitbit Versa 3. In terms of fast charging, you can get up to an extra day’s charge in just 12 minutes. Battery life is up to 6 days on smartwatch mode and up to 12 continuous hours when the GPS is on. It’s sufficient for most, but not the best out there (the Garmin Fenix 7 and Garmin Forerunner 945 will last twice as long without charge!).

Fitbit Sense Color Options

The Fitbit Sense comes in three color options. The band can be changed for another accessory band if desired. The watch color has no impact on the Fitbit’s features.
